WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 54 - by Carlos Briz

Vehicles - Fairy Kikaku, from Japan
Figures - Pendraken
Plane - F-toys (I guess)
(Class C 50 locomotive - Japan National Railways)

This guy does not know the meaning of the word "enough"!

Just when you guys thought CB was going to take a break from all of his recent hard work, here he comes again with another outstanding dio.

There they are: the elephants are the perfect 4x4 in a jungle environment!

The Japanese empire coveted the jewel (India) of the British empire above all else, but that was not meant to be.

The Brits don't usually fancy blokes that go after their precious belongings.

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 53 - by Carlos Briz and Mário Laranja

Buildings - Orange Scenics (Custom Work)
Sherman Tanks - WGS with Pendraken Crab
Half-track and Truck - QQmodels
Figures - Pendraken

(Class Mikado 141 locomotive - French National Railways)

Well, well, watch it and weep!

This is the first case I know of a joint-venture, modelling wise, between two of the BEST modelling artists in all of Portugal:

CB & ML!

Don't worry JP, you are also among the best...

You too JF...

Don't think about it JMM...

Here we have a tipical French village, ravaged by war.

This locomotive also suffered the hazzards of war and nonetheless looks great!

Check out the details in the bust out buildings!

This work is really outstanding!

You guys can search the Web all you want, but you will not find something similar to this anywhere else, since all the best modelling and wargaming artists in the WORLD are BT members!

YES!

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 52 - by Carlos Briz

Gliders - GRAMODELS
Figures and Vehicles- Pendraken

(Class D 51 locomotive - Japan National Railways)

Gliders all the way!

And this time it's the Waco CG-4 glider turn!

This outstanding new dio represents an airborne assualt on a Japanese airfield in Burma, late in the war.

I recently read a book related to the last Japanese offensive in Burma (Road of Bones: The Siege of Kohima 1944, by Fergal Keane) that truly translates the hardships and horrors suffered by the troops on both sides, while fighting a siege in a jungle environment.
A must read for guys interested in the Far East T.O., during WWII.

Check out another bust out locomotive!

CB is bent on turning his railway material into scrap metal!

The Waco glider had a really graceful figure.

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 51 - by Carlos Briz

Glider - GRAMODELS
Figures and Vehicles- Pendraken
(Class 2-8-0 locomotive - French National Railways)

Well, after the Hamilcar it is time for the Horsa!

As you guys can surely notice, CB is on a roll now, where gliders & locomotives are concerned.

The Horsa was another heavy duty cargo glider used in air assault operations, with the purpose of providing the airborne troops with the supplies and hardware necessary to "hold until relieved!" (whenever that could be...)

This is another awsome dio CB!

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 50 - by Carlos Briz

Gliders - GRAMODELS
Figures and Vehicles- Pendraken
(Class BR 52 locomotive - German State Railways)

Did you really think CB had taken a vacation and forget all about us?

Well, think again, since he is back and going on strong!

Here you have another glider, this time a flying monster that had a transport capacity of about 7 tons!

This piece of hardware allowed for the deployment of transports, light artillery and light tanks, giving more "punch" to airborne troops.

This is the first time I remember seeing CB destroying a locomotive in order to make a dio.

Are we on the edge of new and more violent phase in CB's work?

Stay tuned and check it out, since over here there is a never ending flow of (wargaming and modelling...) emotions!

Custom made Russian Village 1/144 mm - by Orange Scenics (3)

Here it is: Phase 3!

Here you have the new outstanding project from Orange Scenics, finished and with the paint still fresh!

Remember that this is a 1/144 scale model, scratchbuilt and made entirely of PAPER (truck included...)!

Just check out the details: the fresh cut wood in the back of the building.

This is as real as it gets, miniature modelling wise.

If you play your cards right, you can become the fortunate owner of a similar model.

Check out ML's website and talk to him about it.

He is an all around nice guy and will surely do his best to translate something you can only dream of into a real-life model.

Custom made Russian Village 1/144 mm - by Orange Scenics (2)

And now for phase 2!

Here you have it: when the design comes to life and the PAPER buildings start to take shape in the real world (the wargaming world is the only "real" world I am aware of...)

Once again, the buildings are made of several pieces that fit together perfectly.

And, of course, they are also a perfect fit for our elite infantry squads and armour!

ML surely uses a special and state-of-the-art glue that comes directly from the NASA laboratories, but sells in Portugal at about 0,01 cents a bottle: the white carpenter glue.

Soon (hopefully...) we will be able to present to you a fully painted and assembled russian village.

Stay tuned to the Brigada Tripeira World.Wide.Wargames Channel !

Custom made Russian Village 1/144 mm - by Orange Scenics (1)

Here we have another great PAPER project ML is working on: a russian village, ordered by another crazy portuguese guy.

This is how the Master works: it all starts with a 3D computer design, where the dimensions and overall outlook are defined.

As you can notice, this viillage is also destined to fit a full size hex from kallistra, that we use in the Ambush Blitz wargames rules.

I honestly confess that I cannot figure out how this guy can make this in 1/144 scale, in PAPER, and, on top of it, make it fit a 10 cm hex!

There must be only one explanation: this guy is a GENIUS!

ML: all these good words surely deserve some kind of reward.

We'll talk about it later...

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 49 - by Carlos Briz

Mistel - Scratch - Figures - Foxone
Vehicles - Minifigs Uk - Crane - GEM models
Me109 - Zvezda - Gliders - JACH
(Class BR 52 locomotive - German State Railways)

And CB brings us another dio with a good excuse to use again the ubiquitous DFS 230 glider!

This time, the Me 109 is brought into the scene, producing a mistel composite aircraft
(scratchbuilt by CB).

The German produced many other mistel composite aircrafts using the DFS 230, namely with the Klemm 35 and the Fw 56, many of them prototypes.

The objective was to release the transported aircraft (laden with explosives) over the target, and then guide it by remote control. It was another last ditch project to turn the tide of the war.

As you can see, CB's in depth historic research is not limited to trains and railways.

Great job CB!

Kursk Campaign 2012 - by Jerboa

 (German Hummel battery)

With the cooperation of our friend Jerboa (a.k.a Portugal's-foremost-wargames-guru) we are going to start a series of posts related to the Ambush Blitz wargames event, scheduled for next September, in Espinho.

The purpose is to make a description related to the several scenarios that are being tested for the upcoming event, destined to not only provide balanced army lists, but also to test the praticability of the fullfilment of the necessary objectives required to achieve victory points.

Here we have some pics related to Table 2 (Kursk-Bogoroditskoye Scenario)

In the first pic, the German player deployed a German Hummel battery to the rear of the initial setup, intending to wreak havoc on the opposing forces, with the power of it's 150 mm guns.

(composite German unit: 1 Panzer III M and 1 Panzer IV J)

Here we have a composite unit, from the SS Leibstandarte Division, with the skirted armour that was much used in this particular battle by the German side.
Jerboa intends to use a representation proportion of about 1:14 in this campaign, in order to provide a realistic and pratical approach to the campaign.

(German armour unit in support of armoured infantry in the next hex)

In this particular test, Soviet infantry placed in cover along a river ridge praticaly decimated the German infantry, since the armoured unit that was suposed to support it (made of a Panzer III and a Panzer IV) made a no-show.

(StuG IV - Headquarters)

The Headquarters are an important part of the Ambush Blitz rules, and it's placing must be correctly made in order to provide the necessary comand and control to the several combat units placed in the scenario.

(Soviet T34's and anti-tank battery)

Detail of the initial Soviet position. The infantry is in hiding, in a "ambush at will" mode. This way the Soviet player does not have to reveal the placing of the unit, unless a German unit enters it's ZOC (zone of control, meaning one of the sorrounding hexes) or choses to make a surprise attack on a passing enemy unit.

Stay tuned, since there are more like this coming up!

Vietnam War & Locomotives - by Carlos Briz

Figures - Pendraken
SK-5 and Jeep - Fairy Kikaku
(Class Alco S 2 locomotive - Army Transportation Corps)

Here you have it: a profusely illustrated dio related to the Vietnam War!

That chopper over there (a.k.a Tarhe) was able to lift about 20 tons of hardware and was sure useful in a jungle environment, where roads and airstrips were in short supply.

On the other hand, the Bell SK-5 (a.k.a. "Pac Vee") provided much needed support in or near swamp areas, where it's speed made up for it's noisy performance.

This is another feather in CB's cap!
