War in Africa! - by Carlos Briz

(Class 2-3-0 locomotive)

Here they are, two more fine dios for your eyes only.

The Brits do have a great imagination. What you see there is a locomotive armoured with protective carpets, made of heavy rope - hence the hairy look - hence the Mary...thing
One can only guess where the hair in Mary was...
That's right guys, this is another example of what you can do with the old carpets you have at home.

(Class 2-2-0 locomotive)

And here we have an example of how the Zulus attacked a train, during the Zulu War.

This week I watched for the eleventhousand time the movie "Zulu" (1964).
There is something about that film that outclasses many of the high-tech, 3D, mumbo-jumbo stuff we see nowadays within this genre.
It must be lines such as "at 100 yards, volley fire!" that do the trick.

Modelismo em Maceda - Exhibition & Modelling Contest (2011 Edition)

The guys from BT were present in another edition of this outstanding anual event, that took place in the air museum of the Portuguese Air Force Base AM-1, located in Maceda, Ovar, to promote wargaming.

As usual, there were a lot of good quality models exhibited, within an inspiring setting.

Here you can see PC playing a DBA wargame (Spartans vs. Thebans) with a young full-fledged airforce pilot (or close to it...).

After taking this pic, PC tried to board this A-7 P Corsair to take it for a ride around the base.
He even showed his driving licence to the nice airforce police people that prevented him from doing it, but they were not convinced...

Here we have JF standing next to the same airplane.
He also tried to board it, but he could not do it.
However, his failure was due to another reason: he could not fit in...

Profiting from a momentary distraction from the airforce police officers, PC finnaly managed to board this airplane (C-212 Aviocar) and take it for a ride around the base!

Look! This one was large enough for even JF to fit inside it!

This is a BIG airforce hangar!

We managed to play a few DBA wargames.
Here my Numidian army was set against the Early Imperial Romans.

Great paint job, huh?
You can readily see I was not the one who did it. This is JF artwork!

JF did a nice paint job, but managed to lose my Gn element!
You are in trouble for this, dude!

After all these years, DBA is still my favourite wargame. I love this game!

Rough Riders!

Ok, I agree the title has nothing to do with anything else, but that was what came out in the spur of the moment. It only serves to provide a glimpse of how a modest bunch of guys we are...

Here you have a pic of most of the guys that are members of that outstanding wargames and modelling club  called "Brigada Tripeira"!

Although the expression "Tripeiro" is usually applied to guys who live in or near the city of Porto, it seems that nowadays most of our members live abroad...

Here you have Carlos Briz, with one of his masterpieces in hand.

I guess that in the whole wide world there must be only one or two other guys that manage a modelling output similar to that provided by Carlos (in quantity and quality).

We know one of them - our good friend JP, from Coimbra.

The next question is inevitable: where is the remaining guy?

Elephant Hunting!

Here we leave you an original document, dug up by JF himself during his vacation in Kursk (or close to it...), related to the best way to "kill" this 65 ton beast that roamed the Russian plains at will.

As you can see, none of the advices given suggest that you face it head-on - something that many allied tank crews seemed to forget, to their own regret...

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 35 - by Carlos Briz

(Class 2-8-0 locomotive - US Army Transportation Corps)

Here is one more great dio for the modelling addicts out there.

The P-51 was a really cool fighter.

It's speed and performance in aerial dogfights helped change the course of the war.

SCW & North West Frontier & Locomotives and War - by Carlos Briz

(Class 4021 locomotive - Madrid-Zaragoza-Alicante Railways)

(Class 2-1-1-Steam Locomotive)

When you mess with the Afghanis, you are liable to get burned.
From the age of Alexander to the XXI century, there is always some people who think they can set the record straight over there - and they usually get it wrong.

This dio is pretty clear about what you can usually find in Afghanistan: a lot of hard rock...

This is another outstanding dio Carlos! Great inspiration!

WWI & Boer War & WWII locomotives & War - by Carlos Briz

(Class 280 locomotive - United States Transportation Corps)

Here you have a few more "fresh" dios from our friend Carlos!

However, I am forced to place a complaint here: the pics do not show all the nice details!

(Armoured Train)

Take for instance this pic related to the Boer War dio: I cannot see clearly all the good stuff that is placed there!

(Class SU 131 locomotive - USSR State Railways)

These two pics are a little better.

Carlos: have mercy on the guys around here and send us a few close-ups of this stuff!

My eyesight is already poor - you will be doing charity work...

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 34 - by Carlos Briz

(Class P8 locomotive - Romanian State Railways)

Here you hav'em, two more outstanding dios with their paint still fresh!

The P8 locomotive was early XX century vintage, originally from Prussia, and the last one was built in 1926. This one here was used by one of the Axis members during WWII - Romania.

(Class Ge 6/6 locomotive - Swiss Federal Railways)

That Me 109E over there blends really well with that herd of cows...

The markings made by the Swiss on the Me 109 (later in the war) were designed not for camouflage but to avoid mistakes in identity, by the Allies.

More than 80 E-3´s (Emil) were bought and delivered to this country just before the start of WWII and were later used in several engagements against...the Germans.

This makes a guy wonder if the Swiss had some inside information related to the beginning of the war, and meant to stock-up some usefull stuff for the future...

Brigada Tripeira Around the World!

From this post you guys can notice that "good taste" is a world wide commodity!

Here we have two outstanding companies that are giving considerable exposure to a couple of our friends great work: Carlos Briz modelling skills and Jerboa's wargaming expertise.

And the publicity made to our little corner in the world wide web is also very welcomed!

Best wishes to you guys!

Carlos Briz "Man Cave" - Part 3

Well, here I am, breaking my pledge related to not placing any more pics from Carlos's very own man cave.

In my defense I have to say that JF twisted my arm into doing this and since he also promised to paint me a brand new 1/72 scale roman DBA army, here they are.

JF: that was what you promised, right?

We needed to be there a full week, just to check out the details of all the great dios laying around.

Next time we will bring our sleeping bags...

Here we can see a somewhat puzzled PC, who does not quite understand how a guy can paint and assemble so much stuff within a limited lifespan.

By the way, PC is a guy who has not painted a piece of shrapnel in more than two years...

As you can see, Carlos cannot complain since he still has some available shelf space to place more dios.

By the way Carlos, we have been there more than two weeks ago, and you still have not sent us any new pics.

WHAT are you waiting for?
