Spanish Civil War & Locomotives Series nº 12 - by Carlos Briz

(Class 4021 locomotive - Madrid-Zaragoza-Alicante Railways)

Someone told me that only 4 of these Bloch MB.210 bombers were delivered during the war.

What a lucky shot for the Spanish bomber crews...

(Class 4021 locomotive - Madrid-Zaragoza-Alicante Railways)

This Savoia-Marchetti bomber over here has a great camouflage paint job!

The SCW also served as training ground for this fine piece of hardware!

The Italian 8.º Stormo Bombardamento Tattico was stationed in the Balearic Islands by the end of 1936 and dedicated itself to attack targets located in the Spanish western coast.

Spanish Civil War & Locomotives Series nº 11 - by Carlos Briz

(Class 4021 locomotive - Madrid-Saragoza-Alicante Railways)

Fresh from the drawing board, or something close to that, here you have a couple of brand new dios.

Carlos, do not forget you have been summoned to appear in Lisbon on the 17th this month, since the guys from the Brigada Tripeira combat team are scheduled to participate in the annual Ambush Blitz tournament, organized by our good friend Jerboa, and it would be a good time to make an update on our chat.

Mário Laranja, from Algarve, is also a mandatory presence in this event.

The guys from Lisbon have been training hard all year in order to reverse the results of the last tournaments, but I already want to warn them that we are going in strong!
The word "strong" here means that we are going to read the Ambush Blitz rules prepared for this tournament only on the voyage to Lisbon (as usual...), since we want to make it a fair event and this way we can even the odds...

By the way: Jerboa, do not forget that last year's prize still has not been delivered....

(Class 4021 locomotive - Madrid-Saragoza-Alicante Railways)

Well, is this an outstanding version of the Junkers Ju 52, or what?

WWI Locomotives & War Series nº 21 - by Carlos Briz

(Class S 3/6 locomotive - Bavarian State Railways)

Here they are, two brand new dioramas by Carlos Briz, coupled with two outstanding J Minis buildings, created and developed by these expert modelers, Jorge Faria and Mário Laranja!

As you can see, Carlos in always hard at work, never missing out on quality stuff to include on his fine dios!

The Pfalz D.III came late in the war, but did not receive a good welcome by the Luftstreitkräfte personnel that was forced to handle it.
It was what you could call a "flying coffin"...

(Class S 3/6 locomotive - Bavarian State Railways)

The Roland CII you see over here was used for reconnaisance purposes, but was not very popular with the pilots, due to its poor handling.

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 34 - by Carlos Briz

(Class 4-6-2 locomotive - French Indochina Railways)

Two outstanding seaplanes coming up!

(Class PLM locomotive - French Railways in Algeria)

The French, like many european powers, saw it's land empire expand mainly during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Portugal was one of the first countries in Europe to establish colonies in other parts of the world and one of the last to leave them.

I feel compelled to make a truthful translation from portuguese to english of JF fine words, since he is saying that if someone manages to win a fair fight on the wargames table, sheduled for the 10th of September on this modelling event, he will be offering (as a prize) a free "paint job" of as many models as you can carry.

Do not miss out on this opportunity!

WWII Locomotives & War Series nº 33 - by Carlos Briz

(Class C 50 locomotive - Japanese National Railways)

And here you have another outstanding trio of dios!
Ok, now you know why poetry is not my thing...although when a guy looks at Carlos´s stuff you kind´a feel some inspiration coming up!

(Class S-2 locomotive - United States Navy)

The M10 gun carriage is one of my favourite tank destroyers!
Those of you who like to play the old "Blitzkrieg" PC wargame know what I mean...

(Class Sentinel Shunter locomotive - Great Western Railways)

I could say something like "this is new to me!", regarding this particular locomotive, but I will not, simply because where locomotives are concerned, they are ALL pretty "new" to me.

Spanish Civil War & Locomotives Series nº 10, by Carlos briz

(Class 030 locomotive - Spanish Northern Railways)

Here we are back to Carlos outstanding dioramas, once again related to our spanish neighbours!

A fine piece of modelling, that torpedo boat over there (on top of all the rest, of course)

(Class 030 locomotive - Spanish Northern Railways)

What is this?
Do you believe that even the americans sold airplanes to the Republican side?
Who else would remember to call an airplane "Peashooter"...

(Class 030 locomotive - Spanish Northern Railways)

Spain, at the time, was a place where anybody could make "an easy buck", and even the russians could see the point of capitalism...

In view of the participation of BT staff  in Ambush Blitz September Campaign in Lisbon, we met last Saturday at my house, the core of the Brigade to carry out several games.
The selected armies were, the German 21st PD and English 7th AD (with some units missing).
The tables tested were 3 and 5. In the first table the victory belonged to the British battlegroup, and in table 5 the Germans won the victory in the final rounds.
Anyway, Saturday afternoon was a very fruitful friends reunion, since the General JMM was a masterly example as a special private BTconsultant, with respect to the ABlitz tournament ahead.
We have to repeat it more often!

Indochina War & Locomotives War Series nº 2 - by Carlos Briz

(Class B 5 locomotive - French Indochina Railways)

Here you have more goodies related to the wars in Indochina.

The French had a lot of limitations in the matter of supplies during this conflict, leading some authors to think that that was the (main) cause for the failure of a western power over a third world country.

(Class 280 locomotive - French Indochina Railways)

However, in the case of the later conflict involving the USA, the argument that firepower and abudant supplies  alone were the recipe for victory did not prove it's point.
